PIX 6 is a light arcade game built for the Schwing und Stampf Festival in Oberrickenbach, Switzerland. A free-standing wall of LED pebbles stands in the forest, and in front of it a self-built double arcade cabinet invites two people to play. No instructions, just joysticks and glowing buttons.
Six buttons switch between five light programmes: LINES, BLINK, DRAW, STARS and NATURE. Each has its own way of turning movement into light: moiré stripes, sparkling fields, drawn lines, exploding star patterns and weather with rain, sun, lightning and snow. A hidden button unlocks the easter egg: a full-size game of PONG on the wall.
Everything runs in a custom TouchDesigner system with an input abstraction for both players, cross-fading between programmes and a brightness limiter that keeps the wall within its power budget. The finished image is pixel-mapped in Resolume and sent via Art-Net to the LED controller.
